Still in cloud 9, the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Gomez has revealed that she had a different dream when she was younger.
“My childhood dream was to be a missionary,” she said on Cata Tibayan’s “24 Oras” report Friday.
But while she’s now on a different path, she said her dream was still aligned with what she had been doing.
“Yung feeling na, it’s fulfilling to serve others, parang aligned siya with what I do as a community development worker,” said Beatrice.
On being the first openly queer Miss Universe Philippines titleholder, she said “it’s a breakthrough for the pageant world [that] they’re accepting people like me.”
“They’re being more diverse and inclusive every year,” she added.
Apart from winning the crown, Beatrice was named best in swimsuit and evening gown and took home the special awards Miss Luxxe Immunplus Game Changer and Miss Cream Silk.
She is now preparing for the Miss Universe pageant which will be held in December.
