A 66-year-old woman from Talisay City got a huge dose of kilig after her children arranged a surprise wedding for her and her husband.
According to Oscar Oida’s report on “24 Oras,” Elizabeth Arrey thought she was serving as a ninang for one of her children’s friends who was getting married.
When she arrived at the venue, however, it turned out that she was the bride all along. Her husband, Arnold, greeted her with flowers at the door.
“Mahal na mahal ako ng mga anak ko, hindi ko akalain na bigyan nila kami ng pagkakataon na ikasal kami after 40 years,” she said.
[“My children love me so much, I couldn’t believe they will give us the chance to have a wedding after 40 years.”]
“Kasi ‘yung kasal namin noong simple lang kasi mahirap. So ngayon ko lang naranasan na ganun saka ang ligaya hindi ko akalain talaga,” she added.
[“Our wedding back then was simple because life was hard. So it’s my first time experiencing a wedding like that and I couldn’t believe the joy I felt.”]
The surprise wedding was set up by their children to celebrate Elizabeth and Arnold’s 40th wedding anniversary.
For Arnold, meanwhile, he said he is ready to marry her as many times as she wants.
“Sa 50th (anniversary) preparado na sila sa kasal natin [On the 50th they will be prepared for our wedding,” he quipped.
