Rosalinda Ignacio or Lola Baby celebrated her 71st birthday while confined at the hospital for COVID-19, but she never felt alone.
That was because the nurses at the COVID ward and ICU of Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila made sure to surprise her with balloons, a birthday song, and a cupcake.
According to Saleema Refran’s “24 Oras” report Wednesday, Lola Baby is now recovering back at home with her family and loved ones.
During her interview, the grandmother, who still needed to be on oxygen, said she was thankful for the medical frontliners who were there for her especially on her special day.
“Kahit pagod na pagod sila, sine-celebratre nila ’yung birthday ko. Taalgang napakalaking bagay sa ’kin non. Kasi at that time halos sila lang gumagabay sa akin,” she said.
Her daughter Rose Sagmaquen also expressed her gratitude.“Sobrang thankful ako doon sa mga nurses na nag-extra mile sa kanilang work,” said Rose.
Lola Baby’s celebration was just one of the many birthday surprises the nurses had prepared for patients at Sta. Ana Hospital.
“It’s one way for us na ma-uplift ’yung spirit ng aming pasyente to make them feel na we are part as family po sa kanila,” said head nurse Jewell Alano.
“We are celebrating this birthday kasi dapat thankful tayo kay God kasi buhay pa naman tayo, may laban pa tayo,” said Melba Lobegas, another head nurse.
Lola Baby couldn’t help but extend her gratitude and her prayer for the medical frontliners to be safe at all times.
“Huwag sana silang igugupo ng sakit, bagkus lagi silang gabayan ng Diyos para nang sa ganun madami pa kaming matutulungan nila,” she said. – RC, GMA News
