Did you know that a Filipino co-wrote one of the songs on SHINee member Key’s latest album “Bad Love”?
As seen on Spotify, August Rigo is credited on “Eighteen (End Of My World)” together with Jaicko Lawrence, Oluwayomi, and Emmanuel Oredein. He had both writing and producing credits for the song.
In a recent Instagram post, the Pinoy artist shared his experience working with Key and a photo of them from way back.
“Congratulations to Key on your new release. I produced and wrote ‘Eighteen (End Of My World)’ with my bro Jaicko Lawrence and Oluwayomi,” he wrote.
“Swipe to see a picture of Key and I in 2014. [Seven] years later, we were finally able to collaborate.”
As of writing, “Eighteen (End Of My World)” has over 278,000 streams after a week of its release. It is one of the tracks on Key’s mini album “Bad Love,” which was released Sept. 27.
This isn’t the first time August has collaborated with K-Pop artists. In January, he and another Filipino, Vince Nantes, shared that they co-wrote BTS songs “Black Swan” and “On.”
August was born and raised in Canada by Filipino parents. He started his music career in the United States in 2004 and had made songs for Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Chris Brown, among other artists. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
