Siblings who have been away from OFW mom for 8 years receive help from GMA Kapuso Foundation

GMA Kapuso Foundation has extended help to siblings from Cagayan who have been away from their mother, an overseas Filipino worker, for about eight years now.

According to a “24 Oras” report Wednesday, Clarence Raymundo works in Saudi Arabia as a domestic helper while her children live with their grandparents. Their father, meanwhile, already has a new family.

Clarence’s daughter, 15-year-old Princess, said even if their mother faced hardships abroad, she regularly sent them money no matter how small the amount.

“Minsan lang daw po siya nakakakain. Minsan kanin lang po saka asin. Minsan, tira-tira lang po na binibigay sa kanya,” Princess said tearfully.

[She rarely eats. Sometimes, it’s only rice and salt, or leftovers given to her.]

The daughter thanked her mom for her sacrifices. “Ma, salamat sa pag-sakripisyo mo diyan sa ibang bansa para sa amin.”

[Mom, thank you for your sacrifices abroad for us.]

Clarence, meanwhile, apologized to her children for being far away from them.

“Pasensya na kayo, mga anak. Hindi muna ako makakauwi. Kailangan ko munang mag-ipon. Miss na miss ko na kayo. Lagi niyong tatandaan na mahal na mahal ko kayo lagi,” she said.

[Sorry, my children. I can’t go home yet. I still need to save. I miss you so much. Always remember that I love you very much.]

To help her family in Cagayan, GMA Kapuso Foundation gave them grocery packs, school supplies, umbrellas, rain coats, face masks, and slippers.

GMA Kapuso Foundation also helped build classrooms at Calassitan Elementary School, where Princess finished elementary and her siblings would be studying once face to face classes were allowed.

The classrooms were built with the help of the New Zealand Embassy, which gave support for more children in need.

“We are honored to support the Kapuso school development program in Calassitan Elementary School,” said Peter Kell, New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, PayMaya, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, Zalora and Mega Mart.
