Rabiya Mateo has admitted to dating a man a few years older than her.
In an episode of “The Boobay and Tekla Show,” the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 said she is “guilty” when asked if she has ever dated someone older than her.
“Three years yung ex ko, pero nakipag-date din ako sa seven years yung gap namin,” she said, adding that the latter is in his 30s when they went out.
Growing up with only her mother by her side, Rabiya considered that maybe she sought a father figure when she dated older men.
“Wala akong dad so siguro yung hinahanap ko sa relationship is somebody na mag-aalaga sa’kin. Tatay pala talaga yung hinahanap?” she said, laughing.
[“I don’t have a dad so maybe what I’m looking for in a relationship is somebody who will take care of me. Is a dad really what I’m looking for?”]
When asked if she’s willing to date a man as old as 50, Rabiya joked that she would still have to learn how to be a caregiver.
The Ilongga beauty queen added that she’d be “tempted” if a man owns a funeral parlor, which she revealed previously was her dream business.
At the end of the day, Rabiya said, love has no boundaries and one can love whoever they desire.
“As long [as] kayong dalawa, nasa legal age naman, and if it’s love, wala tayong magagawa. Love has no gender, it has no age. Basta legal kayong dalawa,” she said.

Rabiya previously dated Neil Salvacion, with whom she confirmed her breakup last June.
