The official trailer for “The Matrix Resurrections” is finally here and it is giving us lots of nostalgia.
The nearly three-minute video released Thursday, which shows Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) reprising their roles, feels like an homage to the first “The Matrix” film released in 1999.
In the trailer, Neo is seen talking to a therapist played by Neil Patrick Harris.
“Am I crazy?” Neo asks. To which, the therapist swiftly responds, “We don’t use that word in here.”
In another scene, Neo shakes hands with Trinity at what looks like a coffee shop, where she asks, “have we met?”
Neo, who takes blue pills, is later offered a red pill by a character played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who tells him “it’s time to fly.”
The trailer then drops the action scenes, where Neo shows off his many skills, including stopping bullets with his bare hands. The action ends with him and Trinity jumping off a building.
After that, Neo is seated at a posh office across from a character played by Jonathan Groff, who tells him: “After all these years, to be going back to where it all started, back to the Matrix.”
Previously, “The Matrix: Resurrections” launched an interactive website where fans were greeted with a “choice”—the red pill or the blue pill.
Directed by Lana Wachowski, “The Matrix Resurrections” is the fourth installment on the franchise. It is scheduled for release on Dec. 22 in theaters and on HBO Max. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
