He may be a superhero now, but Simu Liu was once that dude you’d find in stock images.
Earlier this year, netizens discovered that the Marvel actor, who stars in the new film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” used to be a stock photo model and didn’t waste time in spreading that information.
As a result, Liu remains haunted by his past to this day. On Friday, he retweeted a thread that collected said photos, saying, “Thanks, I hate this.”

In his earlier reply to a netizen, Liu revealed that he was paid $120 for the gig and that he “signed away all my rights to them because I was in credit card debt.”
“Now they are everywhere,” he added.

However, he’s still a sport about it, as evidenced by him using one of the stock image for his tweet saying: “Me laughing at the people who thought we’d flop.”

Liu is referencing the film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” which officially introduced him as a new Avenger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film hit theaters on September 3, marking the beginning of another era for Marvel and its heroes after Phase 3 concluded with “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).
