“Kim Ji Young: Born 1982” is coming to Netflix on Thursday.
First released in 2019, the drama film is an adaption of the Korean novel of the same name written by Cho Nam Joo.
It stars Jung Yumi and Gong Yoo, who also worked together in “Train to Busan” and “Silenced.”
Directed by Kim Do Young, the film tells the story of Kim Ji Young, a 30-something “facing the uneven reality of being a woman in modern-day South Korea.”
According to a BBC report, the book was considered by some as an important feminist novel. It triggered a “fierce sexism battle” which was revisited with the film’s release.
