A father could not help but cry tears of joy after a surprise reunion with his daughter, who is an Overseas Filipino Worker in Dubai.
As seen on Athena Imperial’s report on “24 Oras,” Tuesday, Roy Parilla suddenly cried when he turned around and saw his daughter Riza carrying his 61st birthday cake.
According to Riza, she was not able to come home for over three years because of the pandemic. In fact, she even missed her father’s 60th birthday.
This time, Riza said she made sure to make the occasion special by being present. Her dad did not have a clue about her arrival, so he was surprised and delighted when he saw her.
“Noong mag-video call kami, sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Kailan kayo uuwi?’ Sabi naman niya sa ‘kin, ‘Basta uuwi ako.’ [When we got into a video call, I asked when she will go home, and she just said she will],” Roy said.
Like it was meant to be, Riza received her negative COVID-19 test on the day of his birthday.
Riza said she is glad to have done this for her dad, who is still heartbroken after losing his wife in 2017.
“Kung ano ‘yung love na pwede naming ibigay sa mama namin, binuhos nalang namin sa kanya ngayong siya na lang natitira para sa amin,” Riza said.
[“Whatever love we have for our mom, we give it to him since he’s the only one left for us.”]
After a month of spending quality time with each other, Riza and Roy could not help but feel devastated that they had to be separated again when she returns to work in Dubai.
In any case, Riza promised her dad that she will go home every year so they can spend Christmas together.
