She is set to make her debut on the iconic children’s show this November 25 on a special episode called “See Us Coming Together,” which aims to “celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander identities and the power of community.”
According to NBC News, Ji-young will be performed by puppeteer Kathleen Kim.
“[Ji-young is] a musician, she plays electric guitar, she’s a girl of the very modern American fabric,” cast member Alan Muraoka was quoted as saying. “She recognizes the culture through her relatives — her grandmother, through her mother — and through the food she eats and loves.”
“Sesame Street” is an American educational children’s show that’s been around since 1969. The stories are driven by the muppets that reside on Sesame Street, including Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, and many others. —JCB, GMA News
