A total of 497 students in Barangay Umiray, Dingalan, Aurora, received toys and Noche Buena packages from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its “Give a Gift” project.
According to “24 Oras” Thursday, Dingalan, which was badly affected by Typhoon Ulysses same time last year, was also chosen by the foundation as the beneficiary of its sixth “Kapuso Tulay.”
One of the residents, barangay tanod Zenaida Cullamat, shared that she had been by herself as her six children stayed at a boarding house in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, where they had better internet connection for their online classes.
According to Zenaida, she sometimes gets to talk with her children through video call, and she sees them only during Christmas.
Apart from being a barangay tanod, she also earns income from cooking and selling items.
“Nag-iipon ako para pagdating ng pasko, meron kaming pagsasaluhan at kahit papano, may maibigay akong regalo sa kanila,” she said.
[I’m saving up so when Christmas comes, we’ll have something to eat and I can give them gifts.]
