Tonton Gutierrez opened up about his journey after he recovered from COVID-19.
During the “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” press conference on Friday, the actor shared what he went through after testing positive for the disease.
According to Tonton, he was thankful that he didn’t show any symptoms.
“I tested positive but the good thing about it is I didn’t feel anything. I was very fine,” he said.
After he tested positive, he underwent a 14-day quarantine and on the last day, he took another test which turned out negative.
Tonton said he didn’t know where he got the virus. Fortunately, he said, only he tested positive and his family members and staff were all negative.
He also said he and his wife Glydel Mercado were together “most of the time” especially when going out yet she didn’t get the virus.
Tonton said he was grateful that he was already fully vaccinated when COVID-19 hit him.
“Thank God the vaccine works,” he said. “‘Yun masasabi ko (that’s what I can say). It works (because) at least I didn’t feel anything.”
He then took the time to encourage others to get vaccinated too.
“I would tell my friends (to get vaccinated, those who aren’t vaccinated yet), because it’s important, because I’ve been in that situation and good thing wala naman (I didn’t feel anything).”
Now, Tonton said he’s ready to get back to work and advised others to remain “vigilant and prayerful.”
The actor is currently starring in the fantasy series “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko: It’s Not You, It’s Me” with Pokwang. The show, which airs every Sunday, premiered its first episode on Sunday and will end on Oct. 24. – RC, GMA News
