Adele has opened up about her anxiety and weight loss journey in a new interview.
Last year, the English singer stunned the public with her weight loss. In her latest interview, the Grammy Award-winning singer said that for her, working out was never about losing weight.
“It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone,” she told Vogue.
The “Hello” singer said she got “quite addicted” to working out and did it two or three times a day.
She said she did weights in the morning, hike or box in the afternoon, and cardio at night.
“It’s not doable for a lot of people. But I needed to get addicted to something to get my mind right. It could have been knitting, but it wasn’t,” she said.
“People are shocked because I didn’t share my ‘journey.’ They’re used to people documenting everything on Instagram, and most people in my position would get a big deal with a diet brand. I couldn’t give a flying f*ck. I did it for myself and not anyone else. So why would I ever share it? I don’t find it fascinating. It’s my body.”
Adele also said a “hundred percent” of the stories written about her were fake, especially those who had been claiming they were the ones who trained her when she had never met them in her life.
She also clarified that she wasn’t on any diet and, in fact, ate more.
“No intermittent fasting. Nothing. If anything I eat more than I used to because I work out so hard. And also that whole thing of like, ‘gets revenge body’… oh my god,” she said.
“It’s ridiculous. I think it’s that people love to portray a divorced woman as spinning out of control, like, ‘oh she must be crackers. She must’ve decided she wants to be a ho.’ Because what is a woman without a husband?,” she said. “It’s bullshit.”
Adele announced her separation from husband Simon Konecki in 2019.
The singer also opened up about how people talked about her body for 12 years, even before she lost weight.
“But yeah, whatever, I don’t care,” she said. “You don’t need to be overweight to be body positive, you can be any shape or size.”
It has been almost six years since Adele released her last album “25” in 2015. Prior to “25,” she released her debut album “19” in 2008, and her sophomore album “21” in 2011.
Now 33 years old, the singer unveiled a teaser for her comeback single “Easy on Me,” which was set to be released Oct. 15.
The teaser came out as fans aired their speculations online after the number “30” popped up on billboards and landmarks across the world. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
