How do you come to the decision to start a family? Sometimes it comes in a sudden epiphany, like Joyce Pring realized one year ago.
On Instagram, Sunday, the Kapuso host shared a dated photo of her husband Juancho Triviño sleeping on the bed with their dog.
The day was September 26, 2020—the weekend she told Juancho that she was ready to start a family with him.
“Months before, just a little after we got married Juancho had told me he wanted to start a family, but I wasn’t ready,” she said.
Joyce said she wanted “to do more, travel more, have more time by ourselves.”
“I wanted to do more speaking engagements, teach more and achieve more, be more successful in my career… more more more!” she said.
Joyce said the realization hit her during their two-week quarantine, when they were exposed to a COVID-positive personnel during one of their tapings.
“I was praying and journaling and realized—raising children who know and love Jesus is the greatest achievement I could ever hope for,” she said.
“I realized that that was my biggest desire—to build a family with the love of my life and honor God through our lives,” she added.
Joyce said during that night when he took the photo she “asked the Lord to bless my womb; that if we were ready, He would allow us to get pregnant and eventually become parents.”
A month after that photo, they found out that she was five weeks pregnant.
“God is really good. I’m typing this now as our son Liam sleeps in my arms and one day, I’ll be able to tell him this story and show him this photo and say to him, ‘we prayed for you, anak, and God answered,'” she said.
Joyce and Juancho, who tied the knot in February 2020, welcomed their first child, Alonso Eliam, last July.
