A fur parent is asking for donations so she could have her dog treated after getting diagnosed with cancer.
According to Vonne Aquino’s report on “24 Oras,” Sunday, one-year-old dog Manda is already having a hard time eating because of the huge lump in her mouth.
Manda’s owner Virgilie Tenio said they saw the lump last April and thought it was just a mouth sore, until it started to continuously grow larger.
“Para lang po siyang singaw kaya inisip ko baka natusok lang sa ma matulis na bagay, halaman, kasi mahilig siya mag-ngatngat,” she said.
[“It was like a mouth sore so I thought maybe he just got pierced by a sharp material, plants, since she likes munching on things.”]
After series of tests, it was found that Manda is suffering from a kind of cancer called fibrosarcoma.
According to veterinarian Dr. Mitzi Padrinao, Manda’s condition is usually painful given her state.
“Nagbi-bleed kasi naka open mouth na siya. Pwedeng maapektuhan din ‘yung breathing niya [It bleeds because her mouth is open. It might also affect her breathing],” she said.
Even though Tenio’s short on money because she recently lost her job as a school attendant because of the pandemic, they still brought the dog to a hospital for checkup and treatment.
“Hiningan ko po talaga siya ng donations nung birthday ko kasi wala talagang pera. Sabi ko sa Panginoon, sana may maawa kasi hindi po biro [gumastos] ng ganon,” she said.
[“I asked for donations for her on my birthday because I really have no money. I told the Lord that hopefully, someone will have pity because it’s not a joke to spend that much.”]
“Unang checkup niya noong June ay gumastos na po ako ng P6,000 [Her first checkup last June, I already spent P6,000],” she added.
The only way to treat Manda is through chemotherapy, which the Tenio family couldn’t afford.
“Sobrang lambing niya, [iiyak] ‘pag [iiwan]. Malambing ‘yung mga mata niya parang nangungusap tapos ‘pag niyayakap mo siya, yayakap din,” she said.
[“She’s super affectionate, cries when left. Her eyes are affectionate, expressive, then when you hug her, she’ll hug you, as well.”]
“‘Pag pabayaan ko yung aso, mamamatay ‘yan at ang sakit sa loob kasi iniisip ko, kung ako kaya ang aso na ganyan tapos pabayaan ako ng may-ari?” she added.
[“If I don’t care for the dog, she’ll die and it pains me because when I think about it, what if I was that dog then my owner does nothing?”]
Donations can be sent to Virgilie Tenio through her GCash account: 09305681502.
